Agricultural and Resource Economics
The University of Tennessee
I earned PhD in Natural Resource Economics from the department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of Tennessee and currently work as a Post-doctoral Research Associate. My doctoral dissertation assessed the effects of some prevalent policy supports and voluntary incentive programs on renewable energy production and forest-based carbon sequestration.
My primary research focus is on the economic and environmental assessment of alternative sources of energy, estimation of spatial spillover impacts including agricultural policies, and market-oriented approaches to ecosystem conservation.
I have a keen interest in research projects that evaluate implications of existing policies on functioning of agricultural production systems while keeping a check in resource exploitation and environmental damage. I am also interested in evaluating economic impacts of existing policies on credit accessibility, risk manageability and overall financial viability of the proposed enterprises especially agricultural projects.
My further emphasis is on undertaking quantitative as well as qualitative research that suggests new policies for optimal utilization of resources while addressing the complexity and dynamic interdependency between sustainable agricultural production, rural livelihood improvement, and natural resource conservation.
I am actively seeking a research-oriented position with an ambition to contribute to the policy-level research in regional agricultural and economic development while simultaneously enhancing my current understanding of regional economic growth and rural community upliftment laying a concrete foundation for my professional career.
